Safety tips

Orby does not run criminal background checks on members. The ID check confirms only who someone is and that they’re an adult. It can’t tell you what someone is like: you decide who you meet, and you can change your mind at any time.

Before you meet

  • Video call first. A short call in Orby shows the person is who their profile says, and how you feel talking with them.
  • Keep the chat in Orby until you trust someone. Don’t share your home or work address, and never send money.
  • Tell a friend who you’re meeting, where and when, and check in with them after.

When you meet

  • Meet in a public place with other people around, the first few times.
  • Get there and back on your own: your own car, a ride you booked, or transit. Don’t depend on the other person for a ride.
  • Stay sober enough to decide. Watch your drink, and don’t leave it alone.
  • Leave any time. You don’t owe anyone an explanation. Consent can change at any moment, for anyone.

If something’s wrong

  • Block and report from their profile or the chat: blocking is instant and they aren’t told; a report reaches Orby’s safety team.
  • In danger, call emergency services first: 911 in Canada, the United States and Colombia (123 also works in Colombia).
  • An intimate image of you shared without consent, including one made or changed with AI: report it in the app or write to safety@joinorby.com, with or without an account. We remove it, and the copies we can find, within 48 hours.
